I set up this blog so that you may follow all of my exciting adventures on my year abroad (should you so desire- I won't be offended if you don't, of course). Just to set the stage, let me explain what I am doing to merit such a blog and how I learned about.
The summer before my senior year, I attended a Rotary leadership camp where I made the acquaintance of many incredible people including one girl on exchange from Switzerland. It was from her that I learned about Rotary Youth Exchange, an incredible program in which local Rotary clubs send local students to live abroad and learn a foreign culture and language. These students, hosted by a foreign Rotary club, spend the year immersed in whichever city the host club is located. In my case, the lovely city of Bourges, located in Le Centre and very much in the center of France! It’s about two hours south of Paris to those who would like to know. I will attend a local high school (or lycée) and live with three different host families over the course of the year, spending 3-4 months with each. After my return to the US, I will enroll as a freshman at Colorado College in the fall of 2012.
I’m both nervous and excited for this year to begin… I’m sure I’m going to see some wonderful things and meet some wonderful people!
Grosses Bises,
Elizabeth
